How to make your own makeup primer at home?
Some people do not know about makeup primers, what a makeup
primer actually is, what does it do or is it a necessary step to be followed
while applying makeup? I have seen so many people who do not bother preparing
their skin before applying foundation they just simply apply foundation
directly on their bare skin. By doing this the foundation will get into your
pores causing breakouts.
In this blog we are going to learn the following things:
What is a makeup primer?
What are the benefits of using
primer?
Should we really use makeup
primers?
How to make your own makeup primer
at home?
How to apply primer properly?
Mistakes we do while applying
primer?
So let’s get started with the basic question.
What is a makeup primer and benefits of using it?
Primer is a makeup product used before foundation and is
available in different forms powder, gel and liquid. It does two magical works.
It forms a thin layer between your skin and foundation so
there are minimum chances of products entering into your pore and causing
nightmares aka breakouts.
It gives a smooth coverage and a long lasting effect to your
foundation. It is a life-saver for you in all extreme weathers. Either its
scorching heat, humid, cold or dry temperature a primer will help your makeup
to stay at its place for a longer period of time.
Should we really use makeup primers?
Is primer really a necessary step? And the answer is YES. As
discussed above that many people often ignore this step as they don’t find it a
necessary step to be followed or they do not find it worth their money. Second
most commonly done mistake is people with all skin types think that a primer is
not for them. It usually happens when they use a primer not made for their skin
type and they end up quitting this step. If we choose right primer for our skin
type it will give a smooth and long lasting look to our foundation.
How to make your own makeup primer at home?
Making your own primer at home is super-duper easy. I have
used just two simple ingredients in it. This primer works best for dry to
normal skin types.
Things you will need:
Aloe Vera gel
Glycerin
You favorite essential oil (optional)
Empty foundation/Primer bottle
Process:
Add 2 tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel in the bottle.
Add 1 tablespoon of glycerin and a few drops of your
favorite essential oil in it.
Mix them well.
Your primer is ready.
This primer
works same as of market primers and is very effective in making your
foundation/base long lasting.
Aloe Vera Gel covers your pores and doesn't let
makeup enter into them.
Glycerin works as adhesive and helps to hold
your makeup for a longer period.
How to apply primer properly?
First of all moisturize your skin with your favorite moisturizer
and leave it for 5 minutes
Take primer in small quantity on your fingers. One to two
drops will be enough or in other words take amount equal to two peas. Apply in
all over your face and gently dab it and then message with your fingers. Make
sure to apply it evenly on your entire face. You can also use brush to apply
primer on small areas like nose corners, eyelids etc.
Mistakes we do while applying primer?
These are some common mistakes may people do:
Not applying any primer at all.
Applying too much primer.
Applying primer before moisturizer or not applying any
moisturizer at all. As primer forms a layer between your skin and foundation so
it is mandatory to make your skin moisturized and completely prepared. You can
see my full blog on preparing your skin before makeup.
Applying primer immediately after applying moisturizer is
another mistake while applying primer.
Another common mistake is not using right primer according
to your skin type.
And not giving it time to set. Give at least 5 minutes to
get in absorbed into the skin.
Make Your Cream Highlighter At Home If we say a highlighter is a game changer in makeup, it won’t be a wrong statement. I personally love highlighter because why not? Is there anything to hate about it? Naahhhh. Not at all. It literally makes you feel in heaven. What a highlighter actually does? It was firstly used in theaters by film actors shooting or performing indoors because there was a lack of natural light, so they need something to provide definition of facial features like cheekbones, nose, and jaw line. Since then people got a wind of it and its sales rose abruptly. It enhances your facial features by providing a definition to your cheekbones nose and jaw line. It’s a game changer for your eye makeup as it makes your eye look bigger. Main problems people face while choosing and applying highlighter: As different companies have introduced their own highlighters but still some people can’t find a true match for their skin tone. Some highlighters are too
DIY Waterproof Organic Gel Eyeliner: Eye liner was first used in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia as a dark black line around the eyes. As early as 10,000 BC, Egyptians and Mesopotamians wore various cosmetics including eyeliner not only for aesthetics but to protect the skin from the desert sun. Research has also speculated that eye liner was worn to protect the wearer from the evil eye (Google). I am a big fan of gel eyeliners. I always tried a lot of methods and did a bunch of experiments to make my own waterproof gel eyeliner. YouTube videos were always my tutors. But unfortunately I failed every time. I remember once I watched a video and did same procedure as the girl said by adding activated charcoal into oil and aloe Vera gel. It was a complete wastage of time and money as it was neither waterproof nor a proper gel eyeliner. It immediately stuck on my upper lid once I opened my eyes after its application. So I decided to try my own kind of ingredients
